Eadfrith and Cuthbert were both later made saints after their death. The Lindisfarne monks carried the body of St Cuthbert around for many years before they arrived at his final resting place.
Durham Cathedral is now home to the body of St Cuthbert.
Children in Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 had the chance to learn all about the Gospels and also found out about the life of a monk in 700ad, the time when the Lindisfarne Gospels were produced.
They had the opportunity to "illuminate" letters in a celtic style and to see what it was like wearing monks' habits.
We are now going to produce our very own handwritten version of St Mark's Gospel to commemorate our 50th anniversary. We hope that our gospel will bring as much pleasure to our community as the Lindisfarne Gospels have done to many generations.
Please pop in to school if you would like to contribute to our Gospel.
