Olympics: Keep Away

OMD, I can't believe it! It's finally time for MY event! Welcome to all of Blogville and our compatriots from the Cat-o-lympics as we gather here together for

This is a sport of skill, speed, endurance, and sometimes just plain old skeery faces. Whatever it takes to keep the toy for yourself! We have lots of grreat competitors. I'm just so impressed with all the entries! Here come the athletes now!

First off is Finn, showing off his serious tennis ball skills. Here in Texas, we call that the "Come and Take It" face.

Madi is practicing the tassle-pull version, a very tricky variation only the most skilled attempt!

Ooh, great job by Molly the Wally! That's one of the skeeriest faces I've ever seen.

Dacshund Nola and her brother Boston are perfecting the speed variation. Just RUN before they can take it from you!

Declan is so good at this, he can even keep the flashy beast mostly away! I've got to learn that trick...

My buddy Oskar is lightning-fast! His human will never catch him.

Here's my furiend Nina with her angel sissy Yenna, showing off their extreme weather variation. I want to stare at this picture a whole lot, since it's been over 100 degrees a whole LOT lately around here!

Ryker is showing off his skills in the stick-carry version. It's very tricky to get the angle of the stick just right so he can reach maximum speed!
Ryker

Here's Corbin with the "ball, ball, here's the ball!" version. I think I can hear him taunting "nyah nyah" right through the screen!

Sarge sez it all himself. The perfect tilt of the head just as the human reaches for the stick -- excellent timing, buddy!

"My rope!" "No, my rope!" Jazzi and Addy are doing a grreat job with the props edition.

Whoa! I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm not going anywhere near those jaws of death! Nice form, Frank!

And Asta comes into view with perfect form and grace. I like the contrasting color so you can really see the action!

Here come Reuben and Gretchen with their take on the ball variation. Again, we have some nice contrasting colors that let us see the action.

Here's Rubie, showing off her mad skillz with the combination duck and warning look that's so tricky to pull off!

Will you look at this skill and dedication? Puddles can not only keep up her Keep Away against such distractions as the dreaded Ear Nibble, she makes it look easy!

Here's Sidebit utilizing the tuck and run technique. Beautiful form!

Benjamin the Birthday Boy sez, "Paws off, this gift is MINE!"

Thanks for spending your birthday with us here at the Legacy Chronicles, Benjamin! Everybody wish Benjamin a very happy BLOGVILLE BIRTHDAY!!

Back to the competition... take a look at Storm here! You know, some dogs would be fooled by that cute little puppy appearance and let their guard down, then the next thing you know, that cute little puppy is running off with your treat! Nope, Storm here is too much a professional to be taken in by such an obvious ploy.

Ooh, Buttons is showing us the very rare under-bed manuever! This is a super-tricky one that I myself have only pulled off a time or two. Excellent job, Buttons!

Marley is just a fierce competitor all around, isn't he? Look at that concentration!

Shasta and Shiloh show off their interpretation of "grab and RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!"

And finally, for our last competitor, Brudder Ranger shows just how fearsome his skills are by the sheer distance he keeps everyone else at bay! Wow!

WOW!! I'm just amazed at all the amazing competitors. You all did a fangtastic job! Please collect your medal and display it proudly. You're all winners!!

Don't furget to check out Declan's Tuneful Farting event too! I've got some extra clothespins for your nose if you need them!

And on a personal note...
Legacy Boxer Rescue, the totally pawsome rescue that saved me and that Momma and I volunteer for, is holding their very own competition on Facebook during the human Olympics. We're also fundraising to help raise money to care for some LBR foster dogs who are very sick and want to get all better so they can find their furever homes. You can donate via ChipIn link OR to LBR's main website! Today's event is KEEP AWAY (what a funny coincidence!), so be sure to check out LBR's Facebook page to see all the grreat entries!
