On Tuesday 20th June, French students from Anizy le Château, in the region of Picardie arrived at St.Mary’s Primary School, Newton Aycliffe, where they visited for 3 days.
well-being, but when they turned up there was a huge sigh of relief.
When they finally got into the garden, the children split up and revelled in the different tasks they faced on their endeavour to find their way out. The vast majority of the students favoured the stepping stones, where they all got soaked to the skin!
“I thought that the Forbidden Corner was great fun and I would really like to go there again!” Said Year 6 pupil Sean Brown. Matthew Bright felt that it was the best school trip ever and to add to that the French children were there to share the experience.
Overall, everybody thought that this was a brilliant day out and that they would definitely go there again.
On the final day, the children each created an impressive 3-Dimensional fantasy garden, which was based on the Forbidden Corner. The art work was followed by a carousel of activities, these were: Dodgeball (French and English Version), playing board games and making cards.
Then to round off the amazing experience St.Mary’s gave the French school a gift basket filled with English foods, and in return, the French school gave a gift basket filled with French foods.
Everybody loved the company of the French students and intend to keep in touch with each other, while the French headmistress said that the trip was ‘formidable!’ and is hoping to return next year.
