In September 1962, St Mary's RC Primary School, Newton Aycliffe opened its doors for the first time, so later this year we will be celebrating our Golden Jubilee. Over the next few months we will be planning to make this very special achievement a true celebration that marks 50 years of Catholic education in the town. If you were a pupil we would love to hear from you. Please telephone us to tell us your memories of our lovely school and watch this space for further details for our planned celebrations.
1962 was special in other ways too. CAFOD, the official Catholic aid agency for England and Wales was established in that year.
They work with partners in more than 40 countries across the world to bring hope, compassion and solidarity to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice and they work with people of all faiths and none to create a safe, sustainable and peaceful world. We hope to include CAFOD in our Golden Jubilee celebrations.
